Frequently Asked Questions
What about children/minors?
Youth under 18 must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian at all times on the water. No children under the age of 5. Minimum age of 12 to pilot a single kayak or paddleboard alone. Children under the age of 11 must share with an adult.
What if I want to bring a group or have a guided tour?
We can accommodate groups and with prior scheduling, a Peak 7 team member can teach you to paddle board and guide your river experience. Email trips@peak7.org for more information!
Where can I park?
No designated parking is available, but guests may use the convention center parking garage or street parking. Other options include biking, walking or riding a scooter to the concessions stand.
What isn't allowed?
Sorry, no pets or alcohol are allowed- no exceptions will be made. Peak 7 reserves the right to refuse service to individuals who appear to be under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
What should I bring with me?
What is included with my rental?
Your rental will include the stand up paddleboard or inflatable kayak you reserved plus a paddle, personal flotation device (pfd), leash (for SUPs), mini lesson and safety briefing.
Are reservations required/ Do you take walk-ups?
Some walk-ups will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. These rentals may not be available, so we recommend you call ahead to confirm availability. Also, the concession may be closed on stormy and inclement days. We will have staff available for walk-ups Friday (2pm-8pm), Saturday (11am- 8pm with the last rentals at 6 pm). Reservations will be available through the week, check schedule for availability. Weekday reservations (Tuesday-Thursday) must be made at least 3 days in advance.
Do I have to wear a PFD?
Peak 7 adheres to the City of Spokane Rules of the River:
All persons using watercraft (including inner tubes and pool toys) on the Spokane River MUST wear a USCG-approved personal flotation device. (SMC 16A.60.040)
No person shall use a watercraft while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (SMC 16A.60.080)
Littering is prohibited on all waterways within the City of Spokane (SMC 16A.60.130)
Except for the section of the Spokane River east of Upriver Dam, motorboats and personal watercraft are prohibited on all bodies of water inside the City of Spokane (SMC 16A.60.020)
Swimming and boating are not allowed in the Spokane River between the west lines of the Division Street bridge and the Monroe Street bridge (SMC 16A.60.030)
Enforcement of these rules and the full Rules of the River, as seen is SMC 16A.60, has been granted to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office as well as the Spokane Police Department. Violators are subject to receive a class 4 civil infraction and accompanying fine.

Reservations are highly recommended to guarantee availability, especially during peak summer months. Reservations must be canceled at least three days before the scheduled time, or you will be charged full price. Weather exceptions: You will not be charged for same-day cancellations if there is inclement weather. Inclement weather is defined as hard rain, winds above 20 mph, or lightning within 25 miles.
